AREA SALES MANAGER

LDF Sales & Distributing, one of the region's largest alcoholic beverage distribution companies is seeking an Area Sales Manager (ASM) to support our brand expansion in 2019 and beyond. When single strength beer passes into law next April we anticipate significant shifts in consumer buying patterns which will impact how and where our customers do business. To prepare for that change; the most significant change in how Kansans buy beer for over 40 years, we seek sales management talent who can lead others to drive profitable sales growth for our customers.

We seek a sales and marketing expert who has experience with wholesale sales and distribution who can relate to customers, plus hire, train, develop and lead a sales staff of 5-7 employees to achieve our growth and profit objectives. The ASM must establish and maintain existing relationships with customers in the territory and develop new customer relationships to meet our growth agenda. Job Summary: Works under general supervision to direct the daily sales efforts of all assigned personnel to assure the attainment of specific sales and profit goals, brand and package quotas for all customers in specific sales territory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervises and provides daily feedback to subordinates on work productivity, sales techniques, customer relations and company procedures through daily reviews and one-on-one training.

Assures that procedures regarding product rotation, cooler and shelf maintenance, inventory levels, POS , pricing, displays, full line selling and competitive activity are followed in each and every account assigned.

Assists sales personnel in maintaining superior service to all accounts at all times. This includes taking prompt action on all call-ins and trouble calls, and assisting in the delivery of product, as needed.
Resolves all customer issues in assigned area, makes customer calls based on assigned frequency.

Responsible for all monthly, weekly and daily sales, distribution, display objectives within their sales area.

Maintains a working knowledge of all aspects of merchandising and assists employees in proper placement of point of sale material, obtaining improved category positions.

Responsible to sell in and schedule cooler resets, and new account initial orders.

Systematically check accounts for complete rotation, proper inventory levels and merchandising. In the event of deficits, Advanced Salesman is contacted to take immediate corrective action and VP of Sales is included in notification.

Prepares and updates daily sales quota sheet, with MTD status, and any other reports that are assigned.

Attends weekly meetings with sales staff to communicate current product information, reviews progress to plan and to receive input from subordinates.

Directs sales training and employee development of all sales representatives and service personnel in assigned area.

Maintains an awareness of competitive activity in assigned territory and communicates appropriate issues to VP of Sales.

Assists in setting up special events and provides management support for on premise promotional activities, if on premise is included in account base.

Ensures assigned employees adhere to supplier and LDF quality standards.

Qualifications: Advanced skills in selling. A minimum of two years sales management experience is preferred. Computer and software skills are required (Microsoft Office and software specific to use of IPad). Have an understanding of basic office functions and decorum. Possess in-depth knowledge of company products: of every brand and package sold and benefits of each product, policies, procedures, operations. Possess grooming and hygiene practices consistent with maintaining good customer relations.

Education/Experience: College degree or equivalent work experience. Supplier training seminars and formal professional sales training preferred.

Language Ability: Advanced interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with diverse group of employees, visitors, customers, vendors, management, and executives. Employee must have an ability to resolve customer and employee issues and to influence and persuade customers.

Analytical Ability: Basic business math and algebraic skills in order to construct charts and figure margins. Analytical abilities sufficient to handle active sales presentations, customer relations and complaints. Quantitative ability to analyze inventory levels, maintain procedures and employee productivity. Much quick, independent decision making required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises and provides daily feedback to subordinates on work productivity, sales techniques, customer relations and company procedures. Directs and conducts the recruiting, hiring, and training, of all sales representatives and service personnel in assigned area. Work Environment: Normal office setting 10% and in retail trade 90% Monday - Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Job duties frequently require hours in excess of 40 per work and a flexible schedule.
