VICTIM ADVOCATE Job Openings - Springfield MO
Purpose of Position: This full-time position is responsible for providing direct services to victims of crime under the supervision of the Greene County Prosecuting Attorney"s Office. The position will require outreach, liaison with local criminal justice entities, and collaboration with community resource providers.

Essential Duties: Knowledge and Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Thorough understanding of criminal justice system and ability to explain procedures of the identified circuits.
Collaborative approach for work within the communities.
Skilled crisis responder and a demonstrated understanding of trauma.
Motivated self-starter.

Responsibilities:
Initiate contact and establish working relationships with existing community service providers in respective circuit.
Provide direct services as listed, but not limited to, in the Missouri Department of Public Safety Standards for Sub-grantee Programs, all program standards and statutory requirements listed in RSMO 529.209, and adhere to the Professional Code of Ethics for Victim Service Providers.
Maintain documentation of victim contacts, service provision, website/email contacts, and calls through an automated case management system.
Complete program evaluation documentation on time and as required.
Complete monthly statistical and personnel documentation on time and as required.
Maintain commitment to the mission of the respected circuit and all program objectives.
Follow and adhere to all policies and procedures established by the Prosecuting Attorney"s office within the respective circuit.
Establish and maintain a collaborative working relationship with the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services Statewide Victim Advocate Coordinator.
Maintain status as an Application Assistance for the Missouri Safe at Home Program and provide assistance to victims in need when necessary. Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Bachelor"s Degree in Social Science field, or equivalent experience in working with crime victims. Experience is preferred in the fields of knowledge in case management, victimization issues, and the criminal justice system. Abilities: Language Ability and Interpersonal Communication -
Ability to analyze data and information using established criteria, in order to determine consequences and to identify and select alternatives. Ability to classify, compute, tabulate, and categorize data. Ability to compare, count, differentiate, measure and/or sort, as well as assemble, copy, record and transcribe data and information. Ability to assemble, copy, record and transcribe data and information.
Ability to persuade, convince, and/or train others, including the ability to act in a lead worker capacity. Ability to advise and interpret how to apply policies, procedures and standards to specific situations.
Ability to utilize a variety of advisory and design data and information such as court documents, court records, correspondence, court calendars, case files, criminal histories, State statutes, procedures, guidelines and non-routine correspondence.
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with victims, witnesses, attorneys, Judges, law enforcement personnel, court clerks, probation and parole personnel, Juvenile Officers and interns.
Mathematical Ability
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and calculate percentages, fractions, and decimals.
Judgment and Situational Reasoning Ability
Ability to use sound judgment in performing functions such as supervising, managing, leading, teaching, directing and controlling.
Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, forms and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
Physical Requirements
Ability to operate, maneuver, and/or steer equipment including, motor vehicle, computer, telephone, fax/photocopier, scanner, and TV/VCR.
Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet and limbs in performing semi-skilled movements such as data entry.
Ability to exert very moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, typically involving lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
Environmental Adaptability: Ability to work under generally safe and comfortable conditions where exposure to environmental factors may cause discomfort and poses little risk of injury. Condition of Employment: Employee will be required to demonstrate continued knowledge of this position"s current regulations and requirements. All employees are required to follow safety standards and wear all personal protective equipment in designated areas.
