Zookeeper, Animal Ambassador Job Openings - United States

Our Animal Ambassador program began in July 2015 with the opening of our Wild Encounters. It allows guests to get up-close views and personal experiences with some amazing animals around the zoo's grounds. Staff will pop up in random places, bringing with them animals trained to engage guests. Common and unusual mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibians will take center stage for anyone lucky enough to encounter them. Through these animals, staff can convey the importance of conservation. More than 70 individual animal ambassadors representing nearly 40 species occupy the holding areas, which are specifically dedicated to these animals. There is also an outdoor bird mew and an area for larger animals with adjacent outdoor access. This area works in conjunction with Hamill Family Play Zoo, opened in 2001, an interactive play adventure filled with animals, plants, and people that engages children and families helping to develop caring attitudes towards the natural world.
